本校では、論理表現Ⅱの授業をインターナショナルティーチャーが教えています。高校2年生はその授業の中でNGOについて学び、その中から1つの団体について調べ、英語で発表しました。調べていく中で、社会的な問題に関する語彙や表現を学ぶだけでなく、国内や世界の問題に目を向ける良い機会となりました。
インターナショナルティーチャーによる活動紹介
In our 論理表現Ⅱ class, students recently engaged in an insightful activity that combined language learning with social awareness. Each student was tasked to present a non-governmental organization (NGO) of their choice. They introduced the NGOs goals and highlighted one or two specific activities that demonstrate the organization’s impact.
This activity serves as a culmination of the lessons learned from Factbook 2. Throughout these lessons, students learned expressions and vocabulary related to various social issues. It was an opportunity for them to apply these linguistic elements in context while expanding their vocabulary. Additionally, it was a valuable experience that helped them build confidence in public speaking and enhance their ability to communicate global issues effectively in English.
Beyond language learning, the presentations helped broaden the students’ perspectives on various domestic and international problems. They explored topics such as humanitarian aid, environmental conservation, medical care, education, poverty alleviation, human rights, thus gaining a deeper understanding of global challenges and the efforts being made to address them.
Donations and volunteer work were frequently highlighted in the students’ presentations, and rightfully so. These contributions are the lifeblood of NGOs as they provide essential resources and manpower needed to sustain the NGOs’ operations.
Through this activity, we aim to nurture not only better language learners but also responsible students who develop a greater appreciation for international cooperation and an increased awareness—if not a deeper understanding—of real-world issues.

今までNGOについて詳しくわかっていませんでしたが、調べていくうちにとても興味が湧きました。地球上で起きている問題や課題を知ることで、進路でいた私の選択肢が広がりました。
私はアジアの災害支援をしているNGOを調べました。資金的な支援だけでなく、アジア全体を防災に強い国々にすべく、防災教育をしていることに驚きました。
今回はプレゼンテーションの後に先生から英語で質問されることが決まっていたので、より深く自分の発表の内容を理解しようと努力できました。
